LG TV and iPhone: fix the connection

When a TV blocks the connection, it blocks every remote app, not only Vymote. Try these steps one by one — they are the same ones Vymote shows in the app.

The TV declined the connection

Your TV is blocking the connection. This happens with all remote apps, not only Vymote — usually it’s fixed in 1–2 minutes.

  1. Tap Try Again and choose Accept on the TV with its remote.
  2. On the TV: Settings → Network → LG Connect Apps — on (newer TVs: Settings → General → Devices → External Devices → TV On With Mobile).

The request on the TV was declined

  1. Tap Try Again and choose Accept on the TV with its remote.
  2. On the TV: Settings → Network → LG Connect Apps — on (newer TVs: Settings → General → Devices → External Devices → TV On With Mobile).
  3. Settings → General → Devices → Mobile TV On → Turn on via Wi‑Fi — on, then try again.

No answer on the TV

  1. Look at the TV: tap Try Again and answer the question on the TV screen within a minute (Allow, Accept, or the code).
  2. Unplug the TV from power for a minute, plug it back in and try again.

The TV’s remote service is off

  1. On the TV: Settings → Network → LG Connect Apps — on.
  2. Unplug the TV from power for a minute, plug it back in and try again.

The TV isn’t found

  1. Turn the TV on with its remote and wait until its home screen appears.
  2. Check the network: the same Wi‑Fi, VPN and iCloud Private Relay off, Local Network access, a router restart

Check the network

Most connection problems come from the network, not from the TV. These steps help with every TV.

  1. Connect the iPhone to the same Wi‑Fi network as the TV — not a guest network. With two networks (2.4 and 5 GHz), both must be on the same router.
  2. Turn off VPN on the iPhone, and iCloud Private Relay for this network: Settings → Wi‑Fi → ⓘ next to your network → Limit IP Address Tracking — off.
  3. Allow Vymote on the local network: iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → Vymote — on.
  4. Restart the Wi‑Fi router: unplug it for 30 seconds. Wait until the TV and the iPhone are back on Wi‑Fi.

The TV is off or asleep

  1. Turn the TV on with its remote, then tap Try Again.
  2. To turn the TV on from the iPhone next time, open Settings → My TVs → Turn On from iPhone in Vymote.

Turn the TV on from iPhone

Turn on one setting on the TV once — then the Power button in Vymote can turn the TV on. It depends on the model — tap Test Now in Vymote to check yours.

  1. On the TV: Settings → General → Devices → TV Management → Quick Start+ — on.
  2. Settings → General → Devices → Mobile TV On → Turn on via Wi‑Fi — on (older TVs: Settings → General → Mobile TV On).
  3. Settings → Network → LG Connect Apps — on.

Still not working

  1. Unplug the TV from power for a minute, plug it back in and try again.
  2. Check the network: the same Wi‑Fi, VPN and iCloud Private Relay off, Local Network access, a router restart
